Walk-In Tub Frequently Asked Questions

Our walk-in tubs are designed for comfortable seated bathing. While lying down isn’t typical in these tubs, you can still enjoy a deep and relaxing soak. The depth of your soak depends on three things: the inside length of the tub, the size of the seat, and the distance from the seat to the overflow drain.

We offer over 25 different walk-in tub models to fit all body types. These tubs are crafted with your comfort in mind.

Prefer to lay down while bathing? We’ve got you covered. We offer two unique lay-down walk-in tubs with elegant glass doors. You can also add a glass shower screen for an even more enjoyable bathing experience.

When it comes to walk-in tubs, the material makes a big difference. The two most common types are acrylic and gel coat fiberglass.

Here’s how they compare:

Acrylic Walk-In Tubs (Ella’s Tubs)

  • Durable and Long-Lasting: Made from solid acrylic sheets molded into shape, they resist chipping, cracking, and fading.
  • Easy to Clean: The glossy, non-porous white finish prevents mold and makes cleaning a breeze.
  • Sturdy Construction: Reinforced with fiberglass and set on a rustproof stainless-steel frame for added strength.
  • Consistent Color: The color runs throughout the material, so it stays vibrant over time.

Gel Coat Fiberglass Tubs (Other Brands)

  • Less Durable: Made by spraying resin and fiberglass into a mold, then coated with a thin gel layer.
  • Harder to Clean: The porous surface can collect dirt and oils, making it slippery and requiring more effort to maintain.
  • Prone to Fading: Color is only on the outer layer, so it may fade or wear away sooner.
  • Potential for Mold: The porous material can be more susceptible to mold growth.

Ella walk-in tubs come with fast-fill deck mount faucets designed to fill your tub quickly and keep you warm. These special faucets allow water to flow faster than regular ones, so you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your bath.

Quick Filling Times: Our tubs typically fill in just 7 to 15 minutes, depending on the tub size and your home’s water supply.

Fast-Fill Faucets:

2-Piece Faucet: Ideal for smaller tubs, fills at 16 gallons per minute (GPM).
5-Piece Faucet: Great for standard or larger tubs, fills at 18 GPM.
Not only are these faucets efficient, but they also add a sleek, modern touch to your bathroom. Both options come with 5-foot-long water supply lines for easy installation.

To enjoy warm baths without running out of hot water:

  • Upgrade to a 75-Gallon Water Heater: Ideal for most walk-in tubs.
  • For Larger Tubs: Models may need an even bigger or separate heater.

Considering Tankless Water Heaters?

  • Choose High Flow Rate (11 GPM or More): Ensures your tub fills quickly.
